Edmonton injury lawyer Joseph A. Nagy discusses 5 reasons to hire an experienced personal injury lawyer if you’re the injury victim of a hit and run accident

This holiday season, I encourage everyone to drive safely while traveling on the highways. Do not drink and drive. The unfortunate part of my job as a personal injury lawyer is hearing the stories of individuals and families whose lives have been ruined by negligent drivers. Here are some tips to help keep you safe.
1. Be patient. Do not pass vehicles on the highway unless it is safe to do so.
2. Check your tires for cuts and cracks. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Winter tires provide better grip when temperatures dip below 7°C. The tread depth on winter tires should be more than 4 mm (5/32 inch).
3. Do not drive intoxicated.
4. Have respect for other drivers.
5. If you are tired, pull over to a safe area and catch a nap.
6. Pay attention to other vehicles on the roadway and be prepared to take action if a collision is about to occur. Passive inattention can cause you to lose critical seconds of reaction time.
7. Do not drive excessively fast.
8. Make sure your vehicle is in proper driving condition.
9. Respect speed limits in construction areas.
10. Ensure young children are properly restrained in child seats.
11. Stay off your cell phone and for heaven’s sake NO TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!
Enjoy your holiday, don't regret it.
