A Statement of Defence is a document prepared by the defendant’s lawyer and filed at Court in response to the injured party’s Statement of Claim.  The Statement of Defence usually denies most of the allegations made in the Statement of Claim and sometimes alleges facts blaming the plaintiff or injured party or others for the plaintiff’s injuries and losses.
