Drive safely over the Easter long weekend. I encourage everyone to drive safely while travelling on the highways. Do not drink and drive. The unfortunate part of my job as a personal injury lawyer is hearing the stories of individuals and families whose lives have been ruined by negligent drivers. Here are some tips to help keep you safe.
1. Be patient. Do not pass vehicles on the highway unless it is safe to do so.
2. Do not drive intoxicated.
3. Have respect for other drivers.
4. If you are tired, pull over to a safe area and catch a nap.
5. Pay attention to other vehicles on the roadway and be prepared to take action if a collision is about to occur. Passive inattention can cause you to lose critical seconds of reaction time.
6. Do not drive excessively fast.
7. Make sure your vehicle is in proper driving condition!
8. Respect speed limits in construction areas.
9. Ensure young children are properly restrained in child seats.
10. Stay off your cell phone and for heavens sake NO TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!

FAIR Alberta Response to Bill 47: The Insurance Industry Wins — Albertans Lose
With Bill 47, the Alberta government has chosen to side with billion-dollar insurance companies over everyday Albertans.
The Automobile Insurance Act marks the beginning of a no-fault insurance system that strips away your right to sue a reckless driver, challenge your insurer in court, or be fairly compensated after a crash — even when it’s not your fault.
It’s everything the insurance industry has wanted. And everything Alberta consumers should fear.
FAIR Alberta has warned for months: no-fault means less accountability, fewer protections, and more power for insurers.
Here’s what Bill 47 means for you:
-You can’t sue unless the at-fault driver is criminally convicted.
-Insurance companies decide what care you get.
-If they get it wrong, your only option is to fight them in a tribunal. Your right to real justice is gone.
Albertans deserve affordable insurance — but not at the cost of their rights, their voices, and their ability to hold wrongdoers accountable.
This system doesn’t punish bad drivers. It protects them. It doesn’t keep insurers in check. It gives them even more power.
FAIR Alberta will continue to fight for a system that puts people — not profits — first. ... See MoreSee Less
