In law, limitation refers to the maximum time after an event within which legal proceedings may be initiated. In Alberta, with very few exceptions, the limitation period for personal injury claims is two years from the date the accident occurred.

One exception is if you are a minor. Then the limitation period would be two years after the Minor reached adult age (18 in Alberta).
