A Settlement is a negotiated agreement between you (the plaintiff or injured party) and the defendant (the person who caused the accident) in a lawsuit. A Settlement can be reached before or after litigation has begun but before the Court hears your case. A Settlement eliminates the need for a Judge to decide the issues in the lawsuit and determine compensation.
