Disbursements are expenses I (or your injury lawyer) pay on your behalf to third parties in order to proceed with your lawsuit. These expenses may include the cost of Personal Injury Expert reports, legal fees for filing a Statement of Claim, requests for medical records, photocopying, and courier expenses. These disbursements are almost always exclusively paid back to the lawyer by the at-fault party’s insurance company
Some law firms charge interest on the disbursements they pay on behalf of their client. We do not.
If you are not certain about how expenses will be handled, always ask me, or your injury lawyer, for clarification.
